Edward Otho Cresap was born on 24 Nov 1782 in Cresaptown, Allegany Co., Maryland.4,5,6 He married Sarah Story Briscoe, daughter of Hanson Briscoe and Mary Nappler Jordan, on 28 Sep 1807 in Allegany Co., Maryland.7,4,8 He died on 2 Jan 1817 in Caldwell Co., Kentucky, at age 34.4,9,6 He was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.3
He appeared on the 1810 Federal Census of the 5th District West of Evits Creek, Allegany Co., Maryland, with a household consisting of one white male between ages 26 and 45 (Edward); and one female under 10, and two between 16 and 26 (Sarah and another); and 8 slaves.10
Edward Otho Cresap and Sarah Story Briscoe moved with their family to Eddyville, Caldwell Co., Kentucky, about 1815. They traveled on a group of three flatboats, down the Ohio River and than up the Cumberland River to reach their destination.11,12
