     Rebecca (surname unknown) was born in 1776 in Virginia.3,4 She died on 4 Aug 1855 in Kentucky.5 She was buried in the Tuck-Elliott Family Cemetery, Lafayette, Christian Co., Kentucky.6
     She was probably the female age 26 to 48 listed in the household of Dr. Davis Green Tuck, who may have been her son, but seems more likely to have been her nephew, in the 1820 Federal Census of Marseilles, Halifax Co., Virginia.7 She was probably the female age 50 to 60 appearing on the 1830 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of Davis.8
     She was probably the female age 60 to 70 appearing on the 1840 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, in the household of Davis.9 She appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of District 1, Christian Co., Kentucky, in the household of Davis and his wife, Elizabeth M. Toot.10,11

It is unclear whether Rebecca was actually the mother of Davis. The evidence supporting the conclusion that she was is circumstantial: she is listed in his household in the 1850 census, which does not state relationships, and there is a woman of her age in his household in 1820, 1830 and 1840 (household members are not named in these years). She is buried in his family cemetery, where her name on the stone was transcribed as Mrs. Rebecca Tuck. Davis is thought to be the grandson of Thomas Tuck of Halifax Co., Virginia. He had three sons, Thomas, whose wife has not been identified, John who married Edey Stanley, and William, who married Hannah Irby. He also had a daughter Rebekah, about whom little is known. Since the wives of John and William are known, Thomas has been advanced as the father of Davis and husband of Rebecca. However, Thomas seems to have been alive in 1832 when he applied for a Revolutionary War pension and in 1840 when he appeared in the census in Halifax Co. Why would his wife have been living with Davis since 1820? But for the "Mrs." on her tombstone, it would seem clear the Rebecca in Davis' household was his aunt, the daughter of his supposed grandfather.12,13,14,15,16,17,18
