William married Mary Jeanne Jordan, daughter of Esther Deen, on 3 Mar 1944 in Tallahassee, Florida, where he was then stationed, in a quiet ceremony with no attendants.⁷
William was listed as missing in action, and eventually declared killed on 3 Jun 1945, at age 22.^8,9
