Narrative:

     Thomas Henry McNeill was born on 23 Feb 1877 in Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.8,9,10
     His mother died on 5 Jun 1880, when Thomas was 3 years old.15,16,17 He appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois, in the household of his father, Malcom M. McNeill.4
     There is no evidence that Thomas ever adopted the MacNeill spelling of his surname like several of his siblings did.
     Thomas moved to Coahoma Co., Mississippi, where his grandfather and great-grandfather had owned plantations, before 1900. He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Hill House, Coahoma Co., Mississippi, enumerated 26 Jun 1900, boarding, with one other man, at the home of Henry Clay Long.18
     He was a clerk in 1900, and a grocery salesman by 1910.18,19
     Thomas married LaRue Maxey on 6 Feb 1905 in Cairo, Alexander Co., Illinois, with Rev. Edward L. Roland, rector of the Church of the Redeemer, officating.11,12
     Thomas and LaRue appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Clarksdale, Coahoma Co., Mississippi, enumerated 28 Apr 1910, reporting they were renting their home. Their children Thomas, LaRue and Malcolm were listed as living with them, as were two Black cooks, Pearl Hines and Delia Hilliard, age 19 and 18 respectively, and five male boarders.20
     Thomas registered for the draft for World War I on 13 Sep 1918, while living at Estill, Washington Co., Mississippi, reporting he was employed in farming, by Empire Plantation Co. in Estill.21
     Thomas and LaRue appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Washington Co., Mississippi, enumerated 27 Mar 1920, reporting they were renting their home. Their children Thomas, LaRue and Malcolm were listed as living with them, as was his step-mother, Willie M. Gilmore.22
     He was a plantation manager by 1920.23,24
     Thomas and LaRue appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Washington Co., Mississippi, enumerated 6 Jul 1930, reporting they were renting their home. Their children LaRue and Malcolm were listed as living with them.25
     Thomas and LaRue moved to Arizona about 1932, when they were living at 342 W. Willetta St., in Phoenix. Their son Malcolm and his wife were living there with them.26 They remained in Phoenix until about 1936, when they were living at 1630 W. Vernon Ave.27
     In Phoenix he operated the Palmcroft Service Station, at 1602 N 7th Ave. His son Malcolm worked there as an attendant.28
     Thomas and LaRue appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, in the household of their daughter LaRue and her husband, John R. Mains. They reported they had been living in Phoenix in 1935.29
     Thomas died on 23 Oct 1940 at age 63.13 He was buried on 24 Oct 1940 in Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana.14
