     Ella Rebecca de Hart was born on 2 Apr 1865 in Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois.7,8,9
     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Carthage, Hancock Parish, Illinois, in the household of her parents, William de Hart and Mary Hillegass.17 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents.5
     Ella married Rivers McNeill, son of Thomas Henry McNeill and Rebecca Ann Tuck, on 14 Oct 1897 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin, with Rev. Edward E. Quin, Protestant Episcopal minister, officiating.10,11,12
     Ella and Rivers moved to Evanston after their marriage. They appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1312 Maple Ave., enumerated 21 Jun 1900, reporting that the family rented its home. His children by his prior marriage, Malcolm, Cherrill and Dorothy, were listed as living with them, as were two female servants, Julia Christenson, age 25, and Nettie Hurd, age 20.18
     Ella was named an executrix in the will of her husband, dated 28 Mar 1910 in Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, and to receive $3,000 anually from his share of the ground rents from a lot in downtown Chicago for her life.19
     Ella and Rivers appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1312 Maple Ave., enumerated 22 Apr 1910. His children Malcolm Rivers, Cherrill Elizabeth and Dorothy Meshew were listed as living with them, as was a 26-year old housekeeper, Auguste Busse.20
     Her husband died on 12 Oct 1918 in Evansville, Cook Co., Illinois.21,22,23
     Ella was named sole executrix when the will of her husband was proved 25 Nov 1918. Despite the terms of the will, she posted a bond of $92,000, an unusually high amount, before she was issued Letters Testamentary to execute the estate. The estate was valued at $446,000 according to press reports.24,25
     Ella appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at the Evanston Hotel, enumerated 7 Jan 1920. Her late husband's children, Malcolm Rivers McNeill and Dorothy Meshew McNeill, are listed as living with her.26
     Ella applied for a passport 26 Mar 1925, stating that her permanent address was the Hotel Grafton, Washington, District of Columbia. She stated that she intended to travel to France, England, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, and Belgium.18
     Ella died on 7 Oct 1925 in Keokuk, Iowa, at age 60.13,14 She was buried on 10 Oct 1925 in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage, Hancock Co., Illinois.15,16
