Narrative:

David Flora was born in 1778.2,3
He was probably one of the three males under age 16 listed in the household of his father, Joseph Flora Jr., in the 1790 Federal Census of Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania.6
His father died on 10 Jan 1795, when David was about 17 years old.7,8
     David married Barbara [surname unknown].4
David sold his interest in his late father's real estate to his uncle George Toot before 1809.9
On 4 May 1809, David, as eldest son, petitioned the Dauphin Co. Orphan's Court in Harrisburg to have his father's real estate divided among the surviving children or their representatives. The land was described as about 90 acres in Suatara Twp., bounded by the lands of John Elliott, John and Jacob Bomberger, John Metzgar, and Susquehanna River. The court ordered the sheriff to summon an inquest to divide the land if it could be divided without spoiling the whole, and report back at the next court.9 On 1 Aug 1809 the court approved the report of the inquest on dividing his father's real estate, concluding it could not be divided but should instead be sold for the appraised value. David's share was $457.80.10
David appears on the tax lists of Lower Paxton Twp. on his father's estate in 1807 and 1808, then on the same tract as a tenant from 1809 until his death.11
David died on 15 Oct 1812.5
David died intestate (without leaving a will). John Bomberger was appointed administrator of his estate. On 8 Mar 1814 he submitted his accounting to the Dauphin Co. Orphan's Court in Harrisburg, reporting a balance of $360.16. The court directed that one-third each be distributed to his widow, his son, and his daughter.12
