     Margaret E. Vallance was born on 6 Aug 1860 in Pennsylvania.5,6,7
     Her father died about 1860, when Margaret an infant, or perhaps before her birth.11,12
     Margaret appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Knobsville, Fulton Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 8 Jul 1870, in the household of Samuel M. Kelso, a prosperous farmer, and his family. They are not known to have been relatives, but were apparently helpful neighbors.13
     Margaret appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Susquehanna Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 25 Jun 1880, in the household of Gabriel Heister, a farmer, and his family. She is listed as "help" with her occupation shown as a servant.14
     Margaret married Lewis E. Conrad, son of Jacob Conrad and Adeline Shoffer, about 1881.8,9,10
     Margaret and Lewis appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Middle Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 5 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their children Flora, Jennie, John and George were listed as living with them.15
     Margaret and Lewis appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Middle Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 21 Apr 1910, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. Their children John, George and Walter were listed as living with them, as were Mary and Flora McCarty, ages 5 and 2, daughters of their late daughter Flora.16
     Margaret and Lewis appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Middle Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, enumerated 24 Jan 1920, reporting they owned their home, which was mortgaged. Their son Walter was listed as living with them, as were Mary and Flora McCarty, ages 14 and 11, daughters of their late daughter Flora.17
     Margaret died on 8 Mar 1921 in Middle Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, at age 60.4 She was buried on 12 Mar 1921 in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.4
