Narrative:

Josephine Florence Brady was born on 20 Oct 1850 in Missouri.8,9,10
She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Green Twp., Platte Co., Missouri, in the household of her parents, Walter R. Brady and Elizabeth C. Lamar.18
Her father died on 21 Aug 1862, when Josephine was 11 years old.19,20
After the death of her father, and remarriage of her mother, Josephine, being over 14 years of age, chose her mother's brother Charles H. Lamar as guardian of her estate. Her choice was approved by the court 10 Oct 1865, which appointed him also as guardian for her sisters.21 The same day he filed an inventory of the girls' estate. It included $431 in cash received from their mother, the prior administrator of their father's estate, a note dated 6 Jun 1864 for $250, and a second dated 6 Nov 1862 for $38. Both notes bore interest at 10%. There was also the 160-acre parcel in Green Twp. that had been inventoried in their father's estate.21
Josephine was named an heir in the will of William Lamar, her mother's father, dated 18 Sep 1866 in Platte Co., Missouri. She was to receive $500, to be held by her uncle Charles Lamar until she became of age or married. He was directed to loan the money "on good security" and include the interest earned when the money was paid to her.22 Her grandfather left a codicil to his will, dated 29 May 1869, in which he left some newly purchased property to his four youngest children. In exchange, they were to pay $2,000 to the estate, to be distributed at his death to five of his children, and a sixth share to be divided by Josephine and her two sisters.23
She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Weston, Platte Co., Missouri, in the household of her mother and step-father, John Whisman.24
Josephine married Henry William Bonnell, son of William S. Bonnell and Catharine Shell, on 10 Mar 1874 in Platte Co., Missouri, with Rev. P. J. Berness officiating.11,12,13
On 24 Jan 1878 the court ordered the administrator of the estate of her grandfather, Benjamin Brady, to pay Josephine $50, her one third of her late father's share of the estate.25 On 25 Jul 1878 the court ordered him to pay her remaining share, $10.74.26
