Narrative:

Quintus Atkinson Elliott was born on 5 Jun 1857 in Lafayette, Christian Co., Kentucky.7,8,9
He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky, in the household of his parents, Thomas Herbert Elliott and Elizabeth Mariah Tuck.13,14
Quintus appeared with his parents on the 1870 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky, in the household of his grandmother, Elizabeth M. Toot.15
Quintus married Emma Jane Cooper, daughter of Robert James Cooper and Lucy Ann Ragdale, on 14 Oct 1889 in Lafayette, Christian Co., Kentucky.10,11,12
He and Emma appeared on the 1900 Federal Census Kentucky in the household of his parents.16
Quintus and Emma appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Christian Co., Kentucky, enumerated 29 Apr 1910, reporting that they owned their farm, mortgage free. His father, Thomas Herbert Elliott, was listed as living with them.17
Quintus has not been found in the 1920 census. His wife appears, apparently living by herself, in the 1920 census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky.18
Quintus and Emma appeared on the 1930 Federal Census Kentucky in the household of his father.19
Quintus was a farmer and businessman, like his father before him. He became president of the Bank of Lafayette a few months after its founding on 1 Jul 1898, and remained at that postion for over 30 years.20
It appears that by 1900, his father tried to retire from farming and turn the farm over to Quint. Thomas reported his occupation as landlord and Quint, living in the same dwelling, was listed as a farmer renting his farm. In 1910 Quint was shown as the farmer, owning the farm, with his father living in his household, reporting his occupation as "own income."21,22 But the situation had changed by 1920. Thomas had remarried, and Quint cannot be found. Thomas was shown as a farm owner. In 1930 Thomas was shown as a farmer, and Quint is again living in the household, now listed as a farm manager, and an employee, presumably of his father.23,24
His wife died on 27 Aug 1935 in Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky.25
Quintus appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky, at 412 West 17th St., enumerated 2 May 1940, boarding in the household of James J. McKnight and his family. Also listed in the household was Mary Adams, listed as a nurse, seemingly there to attend him.26
Quintus died on 15 Jun 1940 in Hopkinsville, Christian Co., Kentucky, at age 83.1 He was buried on 16 Jun 1940 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.1
