Narrative:

     David Harvey Glabe was born on 8 Oct 1919 in Monon Twp., White Co., Indiana.8,9,10
     He appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Monon Twp., White Co., Indiana, in the household of his parents, Harvey Sebastian Glabe and Nettie Lou Bess.4
     He moved to Michigan with his parents in 1927.23 He appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, in the household of his parents.5
     David graduated from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1933 with a degree in aeronautical engineering.24 He appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, in the household of his parents.25
     David registered for the draft for World War II on 16 Oct 1940, while living at 1122 Decker St., Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, reporting he was employed by A. C. Sparkplug Company.3
     He was an elevator operator in an office building by 1937. In the 1940 census he reported that he had worked 30 hours the last week of March, and had worked 52 weeks in 1939, earning $540.26,25
     He was a machinist for AC Spark Plug by 1941.27
     David married first Sarah Lou Frances Berry, daughter of William Osvol Berry and Maude Gertrude Moore, on 1 Apr 1944 in Long Beach, California.11,12,13
     He was an aeronautical engineer at an air craft company by 1950, reporting in the 1950 census he had worked 40 hours the prior week.28
     David and Sarah settled in Michigan after their marriage, and then moved to California before 1948 when their third child was born there.
     David and Sarah appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Redondo Beach, Los Angeles Co., California, at 1914 Graham, enumerated 13 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm. Their three children were listed as living with them.29
     David moved to Alaska where he undertook homesteading.24 On 20 Dec 1954 David was granted a patent for a 160-acre parcel in Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, based on the homestead act of 20 May 1862. The grant excepted rights to any coal that may have been on the property, which were reserved to the federal government.30
     David and Sarah were divorced before 1957, in Mexico.14
     David married second Ovalee Helton, daughter of Harmon Brown Helton and Bertha L. Henderson, on 2 Feb 1957 in Clark Co., Nevada. She had previously been married to Ernest Lesley Simmons Jr.15,16,17
     David and Ovalee moved to Washington before 1960.31
     At some point after their marriage, Ovalee obtained information leading her to believe that David's divorce from his first wife was not legally valid. So to satisfy her concerns he obtained another divorce and they remarried. Afterward it was learned the first divorce was in fact valid.32 David and Sarah were divorced again in Sep 1959.18 David and Ovalee remarried on 12 Dec 1960 in King Co., Washington, with W. F. Heppenstatt, justice of the peace, officiating.19
     David and Ovalee returned to California by 1968, when they were living at 636 Torreya Ave. in Sunnytvale and he was working as an engineer for Lockheed Aircraft, retiring in 1980.33,34
     Ovalee died on 31 Jan 2012.35
     David died on 18 Jan 2013 at age 93.20,21 He was buried in Dodson Cemetery, Bledsoe Co., Tennessee.22
