Immigrating to the United States --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

William immigrated about 1867, settling in Cincinnati.24,25,26,27 He may have been the "Fr. Siekmann" who arrived in New York on 26 Nov 1866, aboard the Germanic from Hamburg, reporting his age as 25 and occupation as merchant. But no way has been found to verify this was him.28
His baptismal name was Friedrich Wilhelm Siekmann but after his immigration to the U.S. he used simply William as is given name, and eventually "Americanized" the spelling of his surname to Siekman.4
William married first Augusta Bohmeyer, daughter of Henry Bohmeyer and Anna Maria [surname unknown].9,10
William and Augusta, with their daughter, Victoria, appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in the household of her parents, Henry Bohmeyer and Anna Maria [surname unknown].29
William was naturalized, according to family tradition in 1872 at Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio. But searches of naturalization records there have not yet found his.30,31,32
William and Augusta were divorced before 1878, when he remarried.9,11

A Move to Kentucky and a Second Marriage --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

He was reported to be a laborer in 1870, but then moved to Kentucky and became a farmer.33,34,35,36,37
William married second Louisa Elisabeth Strother on 8 Aug 1878 in Freeman Ave. United Church of Christ, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the widow of Bernard Bicknaver.12,13,14
William and Louisa Elisabeth Strother lived on a farm outside in Burlington, Kentucky, after they were married.23 They appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Burlington, Boone Co., Kentucky, enumerated 21 Jun 1880. Their son Frederick was listed as living with them, as well as her children by a previous marriage, Emma Bicknaver, Henry Bicknaver and Bernard Bicknaver. Also listed were two German-born men identified as "servants," but since their occupations are shown as "laborer" it seems likely they were farm workers, rather than household servants.38
In the 1880 census he reported he rented for a fixed amount 80 acres of tilled land, 60 of woodland, and 40 of other land, valued at $11,500. He had tools and implements worth $100, and $1,000 worth of livestock. He reported that he had spent $25 in repairing fences in the prior year, and two weeks of hired labor. He reported four horses, 31 milch cows which had dropped three calves and produced 2,000 lb. of cheese the prior year, one sheep, 20 swine, and 100 chickens that had produced 200 dozen eggs. He reported that he had produced 900 bushels of corn on 15 acres, 10 of oats on 10 acres, and 75 of apples, worth $75, on 75 trees on 2 acres. He had cut 18 cords of wood worth $55, for a total value of all products of $1,000.39
His wife died on 11 Sep 1888.40,41

A Third Marriage --- Text Stolen from ReigelRidge.com !! ---

William married third Wilhelmina Louise Wieman, daughter of Henrich Friedrich Wiemann and Anna Maria Catharine Charlotte Rothefeld, on 5 Feb 1890. She was the widow of Charles William Snyder and William Caspar Doering.15,16,17
William and Wilhelmina Louise Wieman lived on the farm outside in Burlington, Kentucky, about 1891 where he had lived with his previous wife, until about 1891, when they bought a farm near Heborn. They improved the house and barn, and planted an orchard, and then in Jan 1896 Mr. Winston, the seller, foreclosed on the mortgage and took the farm back. On 17 Feb 1896 they moved to a rented farm near Taylorsport, where they lived for 19 years, until it was sold. Then they bought a farm two miles west of Burlington, moving there 17 Feb 1915. They lived there until his death, and then she remained until she moved to live with her daughters in Feb 1923, renting the farm to Henry.23
William and Wilhelmina appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Bullittsville, Boone Co., Kentucky, enumerated 8 Jun 1900. Their children Clara Louise and Henry were listed as living with them, along with her two children by previous marriages, Cora Marie Snyder and Johanna Marie Doering, and his son Frederick by his previous marriage.3
William and Wilhelmina appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Bullittsville, Boone Co., Kentucky, at River Road, enumerated 25 Apr 1910. Their children Clara and Henry were listed as living with them.42
William left a will dated 6 Dec 1915, in which he left all his real and personal property, after payment of his debts, to his wife, Wilhelmina Louise Wieman, for her life, then equally to "my children," naming Frederick, Clara and Henry, and the surviving children of his wife by her two prior marriages, Cora Marie Snyder and Johanna Marie Doering.43
He became an invalid with arthritis, and as a result his son, Henry, was not inducted into the army because he was the sole support of the family.23,44
William died on 19 Sep 1918 at age 78.18,19,20 He was buried on 21 Sep 1918 in Walnut Hills Cemetery, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio.18,21
His will was probated on 7 Oct 1918 in Boone Co., Kentucky.43
