     Her father died about 1852, when Mary was about 10 years old.11,12
     She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her mother, reporting personal estate of $5000, and ownership of five slaves employed by her mother.2,13
     She appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her mother.14 She appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of her mother.5
     Mary married James E. Fallen, son of Simpson M. Fallen and Nancy A. Fears, on 20 Jun 1894 in Halifax Co., Virginia. He was the father of the man her niece Henrietta Carrington Britton had married about 1877.3,9
     Mary and James appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, enumerated 27 Jun 1900, reporting they rented their home. Etta C. Britton, his granddaughter and her niece, was listed as living with them.15
     Her husband died on 10 Mar 1909.16
     Mary appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Roanoke, Halifax Co., Virginia, in the household of Walter F. Fallen and Malissa E. Canada, her late husband's son by his prior marriage, and his wife.17
     Mary apparently died before 1920, as she is not listed with the family in the 1920 census, nor found elsewhere. But no record of her death has been found.
