Narrative:

     James Taylor Spears was born on 15 Oct 1848 in Alabama.6,7,8
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Tallapoosa Co., Alabama, in the household of his parents, John W. Spears and Mary Ann Goldsmith.14
     He moved to Louisiana with his parents before 1860. He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, in the household of his parents.15
     When James moved to Texas is unknown. He was not listed with his parents in the 1870 census in Louisiana nor has he been found elsewhere.
     James married first Mary Ann Fielder, daughter of George L. Fielder and Sarah E. Britton.9,10
     James and Mary appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Gainesville, Cooke Co., Texas, enumerated 3 Jun 1880. Their children Beulah, Mildred and John were listed as living with them.16
     His wife died, apparently in 1884 in Boerne, Texas.17,18
     He was a butcher in 1880, and a stockman by 1900.19,20
     James married second Inez [surname unknown].11
     James and Inez appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Quanah, Hardeman Co., Texas, at 3 Mercer, enumerated 16 Jun 1900, reporting they owned their home, free of mortgage. His daughter Mildred was listed as living with him.2
     It appears that James and Inez moved to California, as he died there and she continued to live there after his death. But when is unknown. They have not been found in the 1910 census.
     James died on 29 Aug 1911 in Los Angeles Co., California, at age 62.12,8 He was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Los Angeles Co., California.13
