     Alice Serene Glabe was born on 2 Jan 1902 in Chatsworth, Illinois.7,8
     She appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Germanville Twp., Livingston Co., Illinois, in the household of her parents, Sebastian Glabe and Anna Katherine Ruppel.14
     Alice graduated from pubic shools in 1916, then attended Normal. She then taught school for three years.5
     She worked the year before her marriage in the office of the Moody Bible Institute, in Chicago. The Institue is a Christian institution of higher education, founded by evangelist and businessman Dwight Lyman Moody in 1886. It continues to operate today.5,15
     Alice married William Theodore Shols, son of Erasmus Ross Shols and Louise Marie Wienand, on 6 Jun 1923 in Evangelical Church, Chatsworth, Livingston Co., Illinois. Rev. Edward George Vaubel of Downer's Grove, husband of her cousin Catherine Angelia Glabe, officiated. William was elder brother of the man her sister Seberta would marry three years later, and first cousin of the man her sister Eva had married three years prior.9,10,11
     Alice and William moved the suburbs of Chicago about 1925. They appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Maywood, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1908 S. 5th Ave., enumerated 5 Apr 1930, reporting they were renting their home, for $65 per month. Their children Claire and Glen were listed as living with them, as was her brother, Paul Sebastian Glabe. Also listed was Edward Allen, another electrical engineer, who was listed as a lodger.16
     Alice and William moved to Evanston between 1935 and 1940.17 They appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Evanston, Cook Co., Illinois, at 1215 Cleveland St., enumerated 28 May 1940, reporting that they were renting their home, for $40 per month, and had lived in Maywood in 1935. Their children Claire and Glen were listed as living with them.17
     Alice and William moved to Joliet by 1942, when they were living at 5 N. Hickory.18
     By 1948 Alice and William moved back to the Peoria area. In 1948 they were living at 211 Vincent Ave., Peoria Heights.19 By 1950 they moved in 524 Bradley Ave., in Peoria.20 They appeared on the 1950 Federal Census of Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, at 524 Bradley, enumerated 25 Apr 1950, reporting they lived in a home that was not on a farm.21 By 1956 they moved in 730 E. Corrington Ave.22
     Alice died on 3 Mar 1957 in Peoria, Illinois, at age 55.12 She was buried on 6 Mar 1957 in Chatsworth Cemetery, Chatsworth, Illinois.13
